If you’re reading this, welcooooomme! Welcome, welcome, welcome, to this creative platform I’ve decided to call, A Maker’s Collectiooooon! Hiiiiiii I’m Deonne and some of y’all may actually know me across social media platforms as Jimmy Janelle/Jime Janelle…. I’ve literally spelled it like three different ways at this point lol. But I’ve decided to slowly transition from Jimmy Janelle back to Deonne, which is actually my first name, so we’re gonna go with that. Ok so I was gonna do the typicaaal, obligatory introduction post but honey God said “No. You aint new to blogging daughter. Gon’ and pop on out dere.” So here I am lol. I’m not quite sure just yet but maybe I’ll give y’all an official introductory post next time. For now though, you can click on my About section. There’s a small intro there, which should hold you over for now.

Any whoooooo, sooooo let’s get into this first pooooost, this me-made turtleneck and midi wrap skirt. Ok wait first get into my face honeeeyyyy cause babeeeeeeeeee (heart eyes) …. when my photographer sent me the final photos, I zoomed in like oh kay babeeeeee, suh fiiiiiiine... yes I am lol! (see below) And I’m puttin’ y’all on notice right nigh! Yes I do work out. No not every day so I will unapologetically be serving you this one pack until I decide to get into six pack energy okay!? Okay. Ok focus! Let’s get back into the details of this top and skirt that I had sooooooo much fun making, cause trust me every construction process ain’t so fun and smooth, but thankfully this one was!

So I’m not too sure just yet how I wanna do this. Should I show some of the behind the scenes or no? Y’all comment below and let me know.

But again I had so much fun making these pieces. Thankfully this isn’t my first time making pattern 8750 but I always knew I’d circle back around to make another. Oh and I do have to give one of my absolute faaaavorite instragrammers, Stepbyfly credit for fabric inspiration on the turtleneck.

Top Pattern: Mimi G Simplicity 8750

Fabric: Mesh + Performance Fabric Scraps + Ribbon

Skirt Pattern: McCalls 7129

Skirt Fabric:  Buffalo Check Wide Cotton

Modifications

Top: I ended up taking in the neck piece for a snugger fit. I added a ribbon which I didn’t do the first time. I was hesitant about it but in the end the ribbon elevated the top for me.

Skirt: I added pockets, because duh! WE LOVE POCKETS!!! I added an eye hook instead of the strap. I also took a little weight off of the fabric because I like a little thigh meat action every now and again LOL!

So that’s it y’all. I didn’t wanna make this too long because I know folks don’t read. Sometimes I’m folks, so I get it lol.

But until next time…. Ok I gotta find me a cool little closing….

Cheers,

Deonne
