Hi Makeerrrs! I’m baaaack! … And I’m back with a review on a project that I had a ridiculous amount of joy making! It’s the Cynthia Rowley Simplicity 8636 view A dress, which I’ve been obsessed with for years.

Okay so I think I may have said in my last blog post, that the mesh panel turtleneck was my absolute favorite make at the moment, and it is indeed a favorite. It’s definitely in my list of top favorite makes.

However! …. HOW-E-VER…. the Cynthia Rowley Simplicity 8636 view A has to literally be my favorite make to date!!! Before I get into the why’s, let me just say that initially my vision was to try my hand at this pattern using a tulle fabric, a few years ago for an out of town event that I just never finished in time, cringe. It literally still hangs in my closet till this day, unfinished. But for years I just could not get this pattern off my mind. Even after my initial attempt, I could not let the thought of it go.

So let’s get into why I’m so obsessed. For me it’s the easy breeziness of it all, it’s the flowy-ness, the versatility, and the ability to elevate it and transition from day to night. To be honest, I’m just an all around fan of flowy, kind of flouncy structured dresses. Aaand, I also do understand that since I’m a more curvier, voluptuous woman, I have to be very careful about the cut of these style dresses, because they can easily translate as “with child” and we don’t want that lol.

No but seriously this dress has become THE STAPLE piece in my wardrobe. I’ve worn it literally everywhere. It got it’s first debut on vacation in New Orleans last year.

I’ve worn it to run around town in, run errands, on dates, to random stops at the bar and and all in styyyle! I think that’s what I love most, that it’s an easy slip on dress and the ruffles give it a fun flirty appeal.

Okay so let’s get into some of the details and modifications. The fabric is 100% Linen that I snagged on sale from Jo-Ann Stores.

I did make a few minor modifications and I tried to remember them all. The biggest modification for me was sizing down a size or two in the midsection. I believe I went down to about a large or x-large. The dress is already giving oversized vibes so I would suggest sizing down if you don’t wanna look swallowed up. I believe I shortened the bottom ruffle a smidge just by increasing my seam allowance. I lengthened the sleeves to view B, however I really couldn’t tell a difference. Oh and I also added pockets because, WHY NOT right?!

Over all though this is a relatively easy pattern and I am super pleased with how it came out. Would I make this again? I absolutely would! This is one of those pieces I want in every color.

Alright, that’s it for me makers! If you enjoyed this post, please like, share, or comment below. If you decide to try your hand at this Cynthia Rowley pattern be sure to tag me in it on social media @amakerscollection.

Until next time…

xoxo Deonne
